"The mission of the transportation department is to provide professional and secure transportation to individuals with developmental disabilities from residential units throughout the community and Athelas Institute's day programs."
| Transportation Eligibility |
In general, eligible passengers are those who have received admissions authorization to Athelas from the Developmental Disabilities Adminsitration for programs funded that provide transportation services. Distance parameters include the mileage from the passenger's residence or the nearest pick-up site closest to the Athelas site of service. |
To
accomodate caregiver's emergencies, transportation services can be
provided to an alternate residence or facility provided the following
criteria are met. |

| • The residence / location meets the distance requirement | • The alternate location is on a scheduled route |
| • Any communication with caregiver should go through either the Case Manager or the Program Manager | |
